ALL eyes were on Matlama striker Motebang Sera on Friday evening as the talisman walked away with the Econet Premier League 2018/19 Player of the Season gong and the Top Goal Scorer Award.
The Likuena striker, who also impressed several South African sides at the just ended COSAFA Cup in Durban, also walked away M19 000 richer on the night.
Sera beat Bantu defender Mkhwanazi Mkhwanazi and LDF Midfielder Tšepo Toloane to the Player of the Season Award pocketing M10 000 and a further M9000 for golden boot award after scoring 18 goals.
Matlama nearly made a clean sweep on the night with defender Rethabile Mokokoane scooping the Young Player of the Season Award (M5000) while Phafa Tšosane walked away with the Player’s Player of the Season Award (M7500) and coach Thabile Secker was awarded the Coach of the Season accolade (M7500).

In an interview with the Sunday Express, the Likuena marksman, who has always caught eyes of few National First Division teams in South Africa said he was happy with his achievements but most importantly, for helping his team win the league.
“I am happy for to achieve this, it means a lot to me as a player that the hard work that I have put in has been recognised,” Sera said.
“I think my performance improved this season. When the season started I told myself that I want nothing less than helping Matlama win silverware. I have won this top goal scorer award before, so I said it doesn’t have to be about me but I have to help my team.”
He thanked his teammates, his family and the Matlama management for the support they gave him.
“This wouldn’t have been easy without my teammates, the team’s technical team because they are the ones who gave me the chance to play, the Matlama management as well for always being there and most importantly my wife for the support she has been giving me,” Sera said.
