MASERU — Murder suspects, Lehlohonolo Scott and his mother ‘Malehlohonolo Scott will apply for bail tomorrow.
The two have been in custody since their arrest in July for the alleged murder of Kamohelo Mohata and Moholobela Seetsa.
The state alleges that they murdered Seetsa in January and Mohata in July for ritual purposes.
Advocate Thulo Hoeane, their lawyer, told the Sunday Express that he had been instructed to apply for their bail on Monday.
“As their lawyer I entirely endorse their intention to apply for bail,” Hoeane said.
He added that notwithstanding the seriousness of the crime the accused are entitled to their pre-trial liberties.
Hoeane said he was however worried that some media houses were already speculating on the merits and demerits of the case before the trial starts.
“That is unacceptable and prejudicial to the interests of the accused,” he said.
Hoeane said he believed that the speculation in the media could have instigated some people to burn the suspects’ house in Koalabata.
