SCENERY Guest House managing director ‘Marethabile Sekhiba says more activity is required in the tourism sector to attract more visitors into the country.
This will persuade tourists to extend their stays in the country and in the process spend more money thereby contributing to economic development.
Ms Sekhiba said this during the recent launch of the Scenery Travel and Tours arm of the Scenery brand in Maseru recently.
She the launch would consolidate their product offering with tourism activities thereby increasing the potential of overall tourism activity in the country. This, she said, augurs well for job creation and the country’s economic development.
“The idea behind the travel and tours is to stimulate more visitors’ extended stays,” Ms Sekhiba said.
“The travel and tours component of our brand has been inspired by the idea that it will be easier to draw tourists to visit our guesthouses if there are interesting tourist activities in which they can participate in during their stay.”
We will also have special tour packages which will be done in collaboration with other players like tour operators and guesthouses.
Scenery Guest House will from 27 to 29 December 2019 kick off its travel and tours venture by staging a three-day trip from Maseru to Mokhotlong.
Dubbed Thaba-Bosiu-Mokhotlong Tour and Fire Walking, the trip will cover destinations like the iconic Thaba-Bosiu, Afriski and Liphofung Caves both in the Butha-Buthe highlands and Sani Top.
The event will also feature walking on fire by the tourists.
The tour will also present networking opportunities.
