MISS Heritage 2019 Refiloe Pitso will represent Lesotho at the Miss Heritage Global in Accra, Ghana from 10 to 21 August 2019.

Miss Heritage Global, is an international beauty pageant that brings together culture ambassadors from around the world.

The pageant is an opportunity for the contestants to share the culture of their home countries while learning about other cultures through interaction with other nationalities.

Refiloe was crowned first princess at the Miss Lesotho beauty pageant and eventually assumed the title Miss Heritage 2019.

She will compete with 56 other contestants and so far, Lesotho has supported her through votes which have thrust her to eight.

In her tenure, Refiloe has been instrumental in supporting teenage mothers and human trafficking victims to generate income through selling handicrafts.

In line with her advocacy initiatives, she has partnered with different non-governmental organisations to create awareness around human trafficking as well as raising funds for the cause.

She has also shown interest in tourism, handicrafts food and photography.

Refiloe told the Xpress People that she has been working with teenage mothers from Good Shepard Centre located in Sehlabeng Maseru to generate income.

“I have been working on different projects with teen mothers after realizing that there are several of them who are not working and do not have any income,” Refiloe said.

“I have also been working with the Ministry of Tourism to invent selfie spots which will help market the country to tourists.”

Miss Heritage Global Lesotho Director, Rorisang Motlomelo, said Lesotho Beauty Pageant Association decided to form a consortium to enrich the industry to go beyond the looks of models.

“With miss heritage we want to talk to heritage and tourism and celebrate our culture and diversity while at the same time conserving our culture and sharing it with nations,” Motlomelo said.
