Referees association holds annual indaba

Teboho Molapo

MASERU — The Lesotho Referees Association (LRA) will hold its AGM at the Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena this afternoon.
The meeting will deal with two key issues ? the election of a new executive that will serve a two-year term and possible amendments to the LRA constitution.
The current LRA president is experienced referee Moeti Mpopo, who took over the role when Mofihli Phaqane stepped down early last year.
The association is a representative body for local referees and is overseen by the referees executive committee chaired by Baba Malephane.
“The AGM is where we discuss everything that involves the work of referees, not just their remuneration,” LRA public relations officer, Rethusitsoe Lebaka said.
Referees in Lesotho still face numerous problems such as crowd violence and low pay.
