Recording company equipment stolen
THETSANE-BASED recording company, Penya Play, lost M34 250 worth of studio equipment which was allegedly stolen on Wednesday night.
Penya Play is home to artistes that include Mega Hertz, Malome Vector, Kopper Waleh and Irysh Da Princess.
Rapper/producer, Mega Hertz, recently narrated to Xpress People how they found their equipment missing on Thursday morning upon arrival at the studio.
“We found the lock broken and we suspect it was forced open with a hard metal which was lodged between the door and the frame,” Mega Hertz said.
“The recording equipment including a keyboard, sound card as well as a laptop and computer, worth a combined total of M34 250 were taken and the only thing left behind was a table. We do not have a suspects at the moment but we immediately reported the matter to the police.”
He said the studio was situated in a rented flat and from the information provided by a neighbour, they believed the robbery was committed at about 11pm on Wednesday.
He said the neighbour told them that he heard sounds of the door being opened but thought it was the Penya Play team and therefore ignored the incident.
He said there was an attempted robbery in January this year when some people attempted to enter through the window before being scared off by the neighbours who had heard them.
“All the material we were working on is gone including my mix-tape which was due for release later this year. It was saved on the computer and backed up on the laptop.
“We are frustrated by the incident and do not know what to do. We will wait for the police to find the culprits and recover our property.”
He offered a M6 000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the culprits and the return of the equipment.
