RAPPER R.Jay has released a project titled The KONG EP which he says was inspired by his desire to preach positivity.
Born Retselisitsoe Nthaha, R.Jay told the Xpress People in a recent interview that he started working on the compilation at the end of his hiatus from music in February this year with the release of the single Ntoa Bathong.
“I took a break from music after my first mix tape Before the drop out due to a lot of personal issues, so when I returned I released Ntoa Bathong which features Yung Moses,” R.Jay said.
R.Jay said the nine-track release features artistes such as L-Tore, Yung Moses, Lu Srenk, HBK, Mj Elphy, 21 Oranges and Soundz.
It consists of tracks such as Ntoa Bathong, Raw, Focus, Telepathy, Falling, Beast, Endurance and Long live Kong.
He said the tracks are based on his personal experiences adding that he has learnt that the market responds better to authenticity.
“My songs are mostly on daily experiences that I go through. I’ve learnt that being authentic can be one’s mostly relatable form, so I tell stories of my life and how I’m handling the situations that I encounter in the hope that it inspires the next person who might be going through the same,” he said
R.Jay started writing in his early years of high school but was more inclined to poetry and dancing and only started recording and releasing music in 2013.
“Making music has always been my biggest dream. I just didn’t have the facilities to make the dream come true,” he said.
R.Jay said with the new project, his audience must expect good quality and inspirational music that will not only provoke hunger for success but also tickle them with good vibes.
R.Jay has been rapping for 12 years but has only been active in the industry for five years.
