LERIBE — Newly promoted premier league side, Mphatlatsane, last Saturday honoured key players who helped the club regain their place in the Vodacom premier league last season. Molai Tlaile and Tšepo Soaisa were big winners on the day with each player scooping two awards.
Tlaile walked away with both the Players’ Player of the Season as well as the Player of the Season award while Soaisa took away the Golden Boot for the most goals and the best striker for the team. Tlaile, told the Sunday Express that he was honoured to have won the two awards and is grateful to his teammates and his team’s coaches for helping him become a better player.
“It is through hard work that I managed to win these two awards and it feels good to see that our management is noticing our commitment to the team as players,” Tlaile said. The defender dedicated both awards to his coach, Tšepo Hlojeng, who was a defender himself during his playing days for believing in his abilities and helping him become a better player. “We are very motivated after helping the team earn a return to the premier league and it is all thanks to our coach who led by example.”
Hlojeng thanked his charges for the commitment shown throughout the season to help the team win promotion back to the premier league. “The players showed a lot of commitment, kept their feet on the ground and were willing to learn all season,” Hlojeng said. The retired former Likuena skipper said having all his players based in St Monicas made it easier for them to keep the rhythm. He thanked the team for awarding and appreciating the efforts of the players after helping Mphatlalatsane return to the premier league.
He said the awards will help motivate the players ahead of a tough season in the premier league which will be a test of character for his youthful side. Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation, Majara Molapo, hailed Mphatlalatsane for showing appreciation to their players. He appealed to the corporate world to support and invest in sports. Mphatlalatsane president, Martin Mpemi, said the awards ceremony was held to thank their players and everyone involved in the team for the hard work that won their side promotion to the big league.
He also hailed the support of both their fans and their sponsors. There were also special awards to the club’s legends Tšepo Hlojeng and Molefe Makhele who played vital roles in helping the team return to the premier league. Hlojeng is the coach while Makhele is the director of football at the club.
