THE Lesotho Post Bank recently funded the burial of 15 unclaimed bodies, some of which have been at the Lesotho Funeral Service mortuary since 2016.

The corpses were buried at the Lepereng Cemetery in Maseru.

The government-owned bank bought 15 coffins for the deceased who were all males.

Lesotho Post Bank chief operations officer, Molise Ramaili, said the gesture was part of their social responsibility as a government entity.

“We assist the police in various ways so this time they told us they had corpses at Lesotho Funeral Services and we assisted with 15 coffins to bury the deceased,” Mr Ramaili said.

“This is not the first time we are burying people as early this year we buried three people in Qacha’s Nek. We do this as part of our corporate social responsibility and we feel obliged to do so as a government bank.

“Some of the bodies lay unclaimed from 2016 and 2017 and these were all found in the Maseru district although their origins are unknown,” Mr Ramaili said.
