OZONE Club will on Saturday bring the curtain down on their Independence Month celebrations with a massive bash at the Malinakana Dam in Hlotse.
The club’s co-owners Khare Mosilikoane and Ralineo Makholela staged several build-up shows at the club from the beginning of October leading up to the Saturday event.
Makholela said the golden independence jubilee was a great milestone which they felt compelled to celebrate.
“Independence is about liberty and freedom which the whole country should celebrate as there are still other countries that are longing for it,” Makholela said.
“We have had smaller celebrations at the club every weekend since the beginning of the month to mark the golden jubilee and the Saturday event will be bigger which is why we will stage it away from the club in order to accommodate more people.
“We also wanted to do something different from the usual events hence the beach type of setting at the dam. There will be activities such as volleyball and other outdoor games,” he told Xpress People.
Makholela said an array of South African artistes and popular soap stars will grace the event along with local acts such as the Senqu Jazz Band and veteran Famo musician Apollo Ntabanyane. He said the full list of performers would be revealed over the course of the week after contracts had been finalised.
“There will also be a flea market to allow crafters, cultural activists and other artistes including musicians to market and sell their products.
“We intend to make this an annual celebration which will grow to become one of the most sought after events on the national entertainment calendar,” he said.
