MASERU — A 34-year-old security guard on Friday drove home in a brand new Renault Sandero after winning Vodacom Lesotho’s Race to Riches competition.
The competition was launched in August and will run until January 31 next year.
Kabelo Ntlae was drawn as the winner of the Renault Sandero worth M110 000 last week.
“When I was told I had won a car I couldn’t believe it,” Ntlae told ExpressPeople on Friday. But it would appear
the gods always smile on Ntlae.
He said he won a television set in the Summer Fever competition run by telecommunications giants, Econet-Telecom Lesotho.
“I won a TV set last December and now a car, this is just overwhelming. I’m very grateful to God,” he said.
Born in Mohale’s Hoek, Ntlae said he is the breadwinner for a family of five.
“My wife doesn’t work. I have triplets and an eight-year old daughter living in Mohale’s Hoek,” Ntlae said.
He said the new car will ease his travels to and from Mohale’s Hoek.
“It is going to be very easy for my family to travel now that I have this car,” he said.
Ntlae said he made it a point to ‘sms’ daily to increase his winning chances.
“I recharged with M20 every day and ‘smsed’ on all three numbers provided.”
Ntlae was given his car during the launch of the Vodacom Summer campaign on Friday.
Vodacom-Lesotho acting marketing manager, Sekonyela said: “Today we are launching Vodacom Summer campaign which will see a lot of activities to be enjoyed by our customers,”
“We are also giving away the first car of the Race to Riches competition which started running in August. Vodacom Summer campaign is not a competition but a campaign that aims at ensuring Basotho have access to communication.
“It will introduce call discounts for our customers and low cost mobile phones among others,” he said.
“Unlike the past years where the summer season saw Vodacom launching competitions, this year the campaign
will be a Christmas service discounts because we already have a competition that is running until next year”, Matamane added.
