SINGER and songwriter Nthabiseng Khetsi, who came second the 2019 Step up Lesotho competition, has started diploma in Hospitality Management studies at IBC Business College.

The course is part of a scholarship that was part of her prizes in the competition.

She came second to Tamia Phooko.

Step Up Lesotho focuses on discovering upcoming music stars with a view to make them national and even regional icons.

Khetsi told the Xpress People this week that she was grateful to the organisers who have made her dream of going to college a reality. She has been failing to enroll into college since 2016 when she completed her Form E.

She said even though she wanted to study Business Management, she ended up doing a diploma in Hospitality Management and hopes to one day cross over to business.

“The prize has been very helpful because I have always wanted to go to school but I did not have money to pay for my studies.,” Khetsi said.

“I believe that as an artiste, one needs a fallback plan and I want to study business as my fall back plan.”

Experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic where most artistes’ savings were wiped out when they did not have any shows.

She however, said a lot has changed in her life since the competition as many doors have opened for her.

“The competition has changed my life because people in the music industry now want to work with me. There are artistes like Selimo Thabane and Juvenile whom I have always wanted to work with and Step-Up has made it possible,” Khetsi said.
