Lesotho Netball Association (LNA) president Moipone Mashale says preparations for the Africa Netball World Youth Cup qualifiers set for 23-30 July in Gaborone, Botswana, will resume next month.
The top three nations from the games will qualify for the Netball World Youth Cup scheduled for Botswana from 8-16 July 2017.
Mashale said team selection for the games had already been finalized. However, Mashale said he could not disclose the names because the issue was still to be discussed with the Sports Commission and sponsors KFC.
“We have selected 20 players but the team will be cut down to 12,” Mashale said.
Mashale said time was no longer on their side because the training camps are going to clash with Lesotho Institute of Sports Associations (LISA) competitions hence the need to start on time.
“It is going to be very hectic. Remember our under-17 team is made up of high school students and now that there are LISA games to be played you will find that they clash with our training so it is important that we start on time for the players to get used to each other,” she said.
Mashale, who was head of the Lesotho delegation to the 2015 All-Africa Games in Brazzaville said they are hoping to meet with the newly elected LSRC committee, soon and discuss the issue.
“We know that every committee has its own way of doing things. We are yet to meet with the new members of the Sports Commission and discuss pertinent issues.”
