LIKUENA striker Motebang Sera says he will remain patient for his time to become a regular in his ABSA Premiership side Bloemfontein Celtic.
The 2018/19 Econet Premier League top goal scorer has only played nine times for Lehlohonolo Seema’s outfit scoring four goals. Of the nine, he started only five and came from the bench for the other four.
Before this weekend’s round of fixtures, Celtic were 10th with 25 points from 21 matches.
Sera spoke to the Sunday Express on the sidelines of Celtic’s friendly with Likuena in Bloemfontein on Tuesday and said he would keep working hard and remain patient.
He said he has settled well in the side that he joined at the beginning of the current season.
“I have settled well here; it didn’t take me time,” Sera said.
“I know that many fans especially from home, get worried when they don’t see me playing. The only reason for which I am not playing at the moment is that my competitor is performing well and not that I am out of form. That is how football works. Although he is my competition, I also motivate him and push him to do well because we are all fighting for the team.
“I must just keep working hard and remain patient because I know that my time will come. I have delivered whenever I got a chance and I am happy with my contribution so far.”
He said competition was stiff at the club hence there was no way he could slacken as that would cost him dearly.
He said he was happy in the Absa Premiership as the environment has helped him grow.
“The ABSA Premiership is professional and there is a huge difference with our domestic league. Playing here has helped me improve and grow as a player. Things are done differently from what I was used to in Lesotho while they also emphasise on speed and agility.”
He however, said he still needs to improve his shooting.
“I create lots of chances but my conversion rate is relatively low. That is probably one of the reasons for which I have not played as regularly as I would have loved. However, I have noticed my weakness and I am working on it,” Sera said.
He added that he was happy with the support that he has received from the technical team and the fans and along with the rest of the players, they are eager to impress.
He said he would not exert too much pressure on himself since this is his first season but he would use the opportunity to grow.
