MULTICHOICE has increased its presence in Lesotho by opening a second DStv agency at Pioneer Mall in Maseru on Friday.
MultiChoice is a video entertainment and internet company with a strong presence across the African continent, including Lesotho. It also offers subscriptions to GoTV.
The Lesotho agencies are known as Pere DStv Agencies after MultiChoice partnered with Pere Business Solutions to bring DStv services closer to Basotho.
The other agency is located at Maseru Mall and has been operational since 2016. While these two outlets offer full DStv services from connectivity, upgrades and payments, Pere DStv Agencies have further partnered with Kaybon and Puretec to allow local subscribers to pay their subscriptions, which can also be conducted through mobile money platforms such as M-Pesa and Ecocash.

The official opening ceremony was attended by Thaba Bosiu Principal Chief, Morena Khoabane Theko, MultiChoice representatives from South Africa and featured performances by singer, Patrick Matete and a dance trio.
Lucky customers who upgraded their subscriptions at the opening, won prizes which included Explorer decoders, plasma television and DStv hampers.
Pere Business Solutions Operations General Manager, Halerekoe Moshoeshe, said their aim was to bring services closer to the local market.
“This agency is an extra initiative aimed at allowing customers to access services related to DStv which include the purchase of gadgets, connections to the internet, upgrades as well as subscription payments,” Moshoeshe said.
Pere Business Solutions Managing Director, T?abiso Letsoela, said they also aimed to also create jobs while also advocating for local content.
“Lesotho is in serious need of jobs and it is through such agencies that more jobs will be created. We also need to have local content on DStv as we have Basotho in different parts of the world,” he said, adding they would soon come up with a proposal on local content.
For his part, MultiChoice South Africa National Branches Manager, Bikash Komal hailed the opening the “127th agency in 2017”.
“Our Lesotho customers have been crying for services for many years and the MultiChoice partnership with Pere has been essential in answering that call.
“Our goal is to ensure that customers get more than they paid for so there will be more channels coming very soon as well as more stores in Lesotho,” he said.
