Lesotho Defence Force Deputy Commander, Major-General Khoantle Motšomotšo on Friday urged the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Standing Aviation Committee (SAC) to continue collaborating to ensure security in the region.
Maj-Gen Motšomotšo made the remarks during the closing ceremony of the 18th edition of the Committee’s meeting chaired by Maj-Gen Mjalefa Letsoela.
The two-day meeting was attended by the leadership of the region’s air forces.
“It is also pleasing to note that numerous decisions have been made that placed a strong emphasis on the need for mutual cooperation, trust and friendship among Air Chiefs and Air Arm/Wing Commanders of various Air Forces and Air Arms/Wings in the region,” said Maj-Gen Motšomotšo.
“Distinguished SADC Air Chiefs, Commanders, ladies and gentlemen, you should continue working together because of the immense responsibility placed upon yourselves, hence my encouragement to you to accept and share the burden to be part of your working system.
“In a continuously shrinking world, interaction and collaboration between the armed forces, in particular in the air domain to address mutual challenges, is increasingly becoming the norm.
“Therefore, the need exists to advocate for cooperation among the Air Forces and Air Arms/Wings in order to plan, manage and ensure a secure environment in the region which should place high premium on human security.”
