THE Beauty Pageants Association of Lesotho (BPAL) yesterday handed over the Miss Lesotho franchise to former model, Molulela Monyake, who will be hosting the pageant going forward.

A month ago, BPAL opened to the public, the possibility to purchase the Miss Lesotho franchise. This meant that the successful candidate will be liable to organise Miss Lesotho 2020 and take over all the responsibilities of sending the winner to Miss World.

Molilela Monyake was found eligible and was handed the franchise at a small ceremony yesterday where she signed all contacts with BPAL.

Speaking at the handover, Molulela said she believes that Miss Lesotho will be in good hands and she is happy and excited to be working with BPAL.

“I believe I will do the best I can to improve the pageant industry and to get Miss Lesotho to greater heights,” Molulela said.

She said she knows that over the past years, no one paid attention to what pageants were and what modelling is but Lesotho is now at a level where people are starting to take notice adding that she is hopeful that the industry will grow with her in charge of the pageant.

“When I saw the notice that BPAL was offering a chance for someone else to organise and take over the Miss Lesotho franchise, I thought it was a great opportunity for me as I have travelled a lot and also hosted pageants of the same calibre,” she said.

She added that with her experience, being a former model and also having hosted different pageants, she was eligible to organise and host Miss Lesotho.

Molulela was crowned second princess Miss Africa 2013. She participated in the Sweden Miss Africa Crown International where she was the Second Princess.

She was also the First Princess at the Miss Lesotho 2015 edition and represented the country at the Miss Tourism World in Malaysia 2015-2016 and was crowned Miss Tourism Lesotho in the same year.

BPAL said Molulela was the successful candidate during their selection process following the advertisement of the Miss Lesotho 2020 franchise bid.

“Her appointment comes in the wake of spirited efforts by the BPAL to diversify its activities of which one is to offer the Miss Lesotho franchise to any potential franchisee.

“She met the set criteria and also has relevant experience in the industry and we have full confidence in her capabilities and are optimistic that she will represent our trusted brand well,” a statement from BPAL reads.
