MASERU — Sixteen-year-old Maqetelo Mokhatlane was crowned Miss Maseru 2013 at a function held at Maseru Mall on Thursday.
Mokhatlane, a Form D student at Ts’epo Christian High School, beat 19 other contestants to lift the title. Nthabeleng Marit was named First Princess with Mpine Moejane being named Second Princess. Speaking with XpressPeople, Mokhatlane said she fell in love with the catwalk from a very young age.

“It was not easy throughout the battle, the confidence within me, the looks God gave me and my glittering smile put me where I am today,” she said. “As the contest began, I was scared. There were too many pretty ladies around me and that made me feel uneasy but I asked God to give me strength.” She said the win came as a total surprise to her. “I heaved a sigh of relief when I was named among the Top Ten finalists. I could not believe it when I was called out to receive the crown,” she said.
Mokhatlane says she wants to pursue a career in modelling.

The Miss Maseru pageant was organised by Face of Rajoc entertainment company.
