NEW Linare acquisition, John Mofokeng says he fired up ahead of his debut season with the Hlotse outfit when the season kicks off.
The attacking midfielder will be joining Up the Greens from Lifofane where he was a key member to the side wearing the captain’s armband leading the team to an MGC Top 4 triumph in March 2020 in their debut premiership.
Mofokeng told the Sunday Express from his home in Free State on Friday that he had already started training with one of the local teams which plays in ABC Motsepe League.
“I think I am ready for the new challenges at Linare,” Mofokeng said.
“I have been training with one of the local teams here just to keep fit and I am only waiting for the borders to be opened so that I can come to Lesotho and join the rest of the team when the new season starts.”
Mofokeng said he was willing to contribute to Linare in bringing back the side’s glory days and end its three-decade wait for a trophy.
“It is every player’s dream to win trophies for their team and I am no exception. I also have my own targets with Linare.
“I believe that the team’s quality makes it possible to win trophies that we will be competing in. It is will also require self-belief and I have no doubt that we can return the team to its glory days.
“There are many good players in that team, so that gives me some comfort because now the focus will not only be on me. However, like I have said, I am ready for the challenges and I will continue working hard to ensure that I don’t disappoint.
“I am expecting nothing less than a good season but of course, it will have to come with some hard work. It is a new space that will come with new challenges, so I will also have to be ready for that,” Mofokeng said.
