Qoaling Highlanders coach, Wright Mofoka, (pictured) is pleased with his team’s achievement in only their second season in the Premiership League.
Highlanders pipped police outfit, LMPS, for eighth-spot on the 14-team Premier League table due to a better goal-tally, which qualified them for next season’s competitions which only feature the top eight teams from the 2013/14 campaign.
Mofoka, who led the Qoaling-based side into the Premier League from the A Division, told the Sunday Express the team would have done much better if they had a corporate sponsor.
“Our main challenge was lack of sponsorship, which affected us very badly,” Mofoka said.
“If you look at all the clubs that finished above us, they all have sponsors and this is why my boys deserve credit for this achievement, as we still finished ahead of LMPS who also have a sponsor.
“We have already started searching for new players to improve our squad ahead of the new season. We intend to bring in a few players who are top-class and will bring a lot of quality as well as much-needed experience into our team.”
However, Mofoka said he was not yet sure if talented winger, Hopolang Mohlalefi, would be at the club next season.
Mohlalefi spent the whole of the 2013/14 season on loan at Bantu, where he had a successful campaign, helping the Mafeteng-based side to a rare double of the league title and Top 4 trophy.
“At this stage, I cannot say whether he will be with us next season. He remains our player, but we won’t stand in his way if he feels Bantu are the best team for him.”
Mofoka also said Highlanders would be even better next season if he could add a few new quality faces into his team.
