MASERU — A Mafeteng woman who mysteriously disappeared on November 16 for days was found dead in her house.
She was reported missing to the area chief by her neighbour who is also a colleague.
Police spokesperson Thato Ramarikhoane said: “A 36-year-old woman was found lying dead in her house. The deceased, who was a factory worker, was reported missing by her neighbour to the area chief. The woman did not see her reporting to work and even at her home as they stay in the same flats. The neighbour had last seen her on Saturday last week,” Ramarikhoane said.
The chief gave a directive to have her house opened. That is when neighbours found her lying dead in the house. She had injuries on her arm, neck and breast.
“It was assumed that she could have been sexually assaulted before she was murdered,” he added.
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by unknown man in Butha-Buthe on Saturday last week.
According to police report the suspect broke into the girl’s home where she was sleeping alone.
“The girl was sleeping alone at night when the suspects broke into her home where he sexually assaulted her. She could not identify the suspect when she reported the matter,” he said.
The suspects have not been arrested in both cases. Police continue with investigations.
