MASERU — The Lesotho Football Association (Lefa) has awarded Matlama three points and three goals for their abandoned match with Lioli at Pitso Ground on January 24, the Sunday Express can reveal.
Sources yesterday told the Sunday Express a high-level Lefa review panel on Friday overturned a Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) decision of February 2 to have the match — which was called-off due to crowd trouble after Matlama had taken a 3-0 lead with 13 minutes to go — replayed at Bambatha on March 11.
The PLMC had found both sides equally responsible for the violence, which saw one person shot and several injured.
However, this newspaper is reliably informed the PLMC’s ruling was overturned on Friday after an appeal by Matlama.
LeFA officials were tight-lipped over the developments last night, while the Premier League said it could not comment. However, it is expected Lefa will announce their position tomorrow.
