QACHA’s NEK — A 36-year-old man is fighting for his life at Queen ’Mamohato Memorial Hospital after he was shot by a suspected cattle rustler. Officer Commanding Thaba Tseka police, Superintendent Khethisang Koro, said the suspect had shot the man after he was cornered by Lesobeng residents.
Koro said the suspect had fled into his house, pulled out a gun and shot the man in the stomach. He said after shooting the man, the 26-year-old suspect then tried to flee on horseback but fell and injured himself.
He was also admitted at St James hospital in Mantsonyane but was later referred to Queen ’Mamohato Memorial hospital.
Koro said a case of attempted murder against the suspect has been opened and he will appear before the district magistrate’s court as soon as he is released from hospital. He commended the residents for their efforts in fighting crime but said in future they must give the information to the police not take the law into their own hands. —Lena
