MOTEBANG Makhetha has been named the new Linare FC coach after leaving Kick4Life this weekend.
KicK4Life announced his departure on Thursday before Linare later snatched him.
“Kick4Life announces that Motebang Makhetha has left his role as the head coach of the senior men’s team,” Kick4Life said in a statement on Thursday.
“The club and Makhetha decided to end their working relationship after a mutual understanding. The management of the club wishes to thank Makhetha for his professional conduct and his efforts in guiding the club in the right direction.”
First assistant coach, Teboho Kokome and second assistant, Molefi Katane are in charge of the team in the meantime.
Makhetha joined Kick4Life in December 2020 and left the side in eighth in the 16- team log table Vodacom Premier League table.
Out of 19 league games played under his tutelage Kick4Life collected 30 points from nine wins, three draws and seven losses.
Meanwhile, Linare, have also confirmed Makhetha’s appointment. He is replacing Teboho Moloi, who left last month.
“Following the team’s announcement that we were searching for a new coach to replace coach Teboho Moloi, we are proud to announce Motebang Makhetha as our new head coach,” the team said in a statement.
Talking to Sunday Express this weekend, Linare secretary general, Moeketsi Rampai said Makhetha signed a six months’ contract with a two-year renewal option.
“Makhetha will lead the team only for the remaining six months of this season. However, there is still an option to renew the contract for another two years.
“The reason behind giving him six months is that the current Linare executive committee’s term in office is ending in June this year.
“Therefore, we didn’t want to give him a long-term contract when we are not sure if we will still be in office after the elections,” Rampai said.
Makhetha’s first game as Linare coach will be against Likhopo at LCS Ground today.
