THE government has reshuffled eight principal secretaries (PS), some of whom were also reshuffled last July.
According to a statement issued by the office of the Government Secretary (GS) Lebohang Ramohlanka, Emmanuel Lesoma was transferred to the Water Ministry from the Energy and Meteorology ministry.
He replaced Khomoatsana Tau who was transferred to the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture.
Advocate Karabo Tlhoeli — formerly PS for the Ministry of Labour and Employment — was moved to the Energy and Meteorology ministry. He was replaced by former Health ministry PS, Tsietsi Lebakae.
Former Gender ministry PS ’Malerato Khoeli was shuffled to the Health ministry and replaced by Lefeu Ramone who served at the Ministry of Tourism. Ms Khoeli was formerly PS for the Public Works and Transport ministry before being transferred to the Gender ministry in July last year.
Tlohelang Aumane, who was PS in the Ministry of Development Planning, swapped places with Majakathata Mokoena-Thakhisi who was at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
Mr Mokoena Thakhisi, was PS for the Ministry of Trade and Industry before being transferred to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport last July.
According to the statement, the reshuffle was done in terms Section 139 of the Lesotho Constitution 139 which empowers Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili to appoint PSs and the GS “after consultation with the Public Service Commission”.
The constitution also empowers the premier to transfer principal secretaries.
