MASERU — Former league champions Lioli have named Halemakale Mahlaha their head coach following the sudden departure of Mosholi “Shoes” Mokhothu for LCS last month.
Mahlaha, who joined the Teyateyaneng giants in April last year, was largely expected to take over the hot seat after Mokhothu left.
Lioli spokesman Moeketsi Pitso confirmed the development.
He however told the Sunday Express that the club were yet to find an assistant for Mahlaha, who waas in charge of Matlama before heading to Teyateyaneng.
“At the moment we don’t have an assistant coach, but Seeker Thabile will be Mahlaha’s second assistant,” Pitso said.
Seeker is a veteran first-team player.
Meanwhile, Lioli have completed the signings of Baholo Sefatsa and Montoeli Senopo from Nyenye Rovers.
The pair, who are part of Lesotho’s Under-20 national team, joined their new teammates last week.
Goalkeeper Sefatsa has moved to Tse Nala for M5 000 while winger Senopo has joined on a season-long loan deal.
“We have signed them . . . they are coming back home,” Pitso said.
Both players were nurtured in Lioli’s development side.
Nyenye Rovers public relations officer Thabiso Jomane also confirmed the transfers.
He said they were happy with Sefatsa’s deal even though the first division side had hoped to sell him for M10 000.
“We have agreed with the people of TY to release the players. For Montoeli we have agreed to let him go on loan,” Jomane said.
Lioli have also completed the signing of midfield anchor Shetsane Ramoseeka from Joy.
However their pursuit of Ramashalane Taeli has stalled.
Internet, as Taeli is popularly known, left LCS last month and looked set to sign for Lioli but Pitso said Taeli’s “personal issues” had put the transfer in jeopardy.
“He (Taeli) is in the team but he hasn’t signed yet.
“There are personal issues that we need to sort out with his employer,” Pitso said.
