FORMER Lioli coach, Halemakale Mahlaha, has bounced back in football, taking over the reins at Likhopo barely a fortnight after leaving the former champions.

He takes over from Tšepo Hlojeng who resigned due to work commitments.

Likhopo Communications and Marketing Manager, Katleho Mahamo, confirmed Mahlaha’s appointment, saying he will work with them for the remainder of the season.

“We have appointed Mahlaha as our head coach to replace Tšepo Hlojeng who resigned due to work commitments at Letšeng Diamonds,” Mahamo said.

Mahlaha resigned from Lioli two weeks ago after the club failed to defend its Independence Cup crown and took the wooden spoon following back-to-back defeats to LCS and Kick4Life respectively.

He joins a Likhopo side that are yet to win a league match after drawing two and losing three this season.

However, Mahamo expressed confidence in Mahlaha’s ability, saying he was the right man to take them out of the relegation zone.

“We did not start well in terms of results but the boys have been playing well in some matches. It is just that luck is not on our side but we believe Mahlaha has the experience to get us back to the glory days.

“He is a good coach who has proved himself at the various teams he has worked with. Most importantly, he is good at sporting talent and it is good that he can also work with young players since our team is mostly made up of young players,” Mahamo said.
