MASERU — Last weekend King’s Cup invitation golf tournament raised M500 000 for the second successive year.
The objective of the prestigious annual tournament is to raise funds for King Letsie III’s Royal Education Development Trust.
Speaking with the Sunday Express, veteran golfer General Sentle said the tournament has a potential to grow bigger.
“The King is happy with how things turned out as he took part in the tournament for the second successive year,” Sentle said.
“The whole idea is to have fun and at the same time raise money to help the needy through His Majesty’s education trust.
“Surely we could have done better with a bigger golf course as many companies wanted to be involved, but we could only accommodate 56 golfers for our nine hole golf course,” he said.
Sentle said they are hoping for a bigger and better tournament next year when the King turns 50.
“It will be the third year that the tournament will be running and we are going to try and make it bigger and better in honour of our King who will be celebrating his 50th birthday,” Sentle said.
