NTSOAKI Seutloali could not believe it when she received a call from Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL).

The call had a noisy background but she could hear clearly when the caller announced that she was this month’s winner of the Matsebetsebe Cash Explosion Promotion.

She recalls that at that moment she almost dropped the phone.

Suddenly she was M150 000 richer, thanks to a few M1 text messages she sent to enter the competition.

“I am still shaking. I can’t believe this and still wonder’ why me,” she said in an interview afterwards.

Ntsoaki, who stays in Ha-Thetsane, said she started playing ETL’s Matsebetsebe in September to try her luck after receiving an SMS with guidelines for registering. She would send an SMS every day.

She said she was initially reluctant to play the game because she thought such competitions are always won by preselected people.

“Now I know that I was wrong all along. I regret the chances I missed when I did not enter previous competitions. Now I know it’s real. I am extremely excited.”

She plans to invest the money but she is yet to decide how.

A house is one of those things she is seriously considering.

She admits that the M150 000 will not finish the house but is optimistic that it will “go somewhere far”.

“Without that money, I would never have even started dreaming of starting on that project. Thanks to ETL, I can dream now,” she said.

“There are also other businesses opportunities that can help me grow the money.”

Ntsoaki has one child and works for a cleaning company in Maseru.

Since Matsebetsebe Cash Explosion started in June, 8 384 ETL customers have won cash, airtime and data prizes.

From 22 June this year, ETL has given around M2.4 million in prizes: slightly over M1,5 million in cash and M830 000 in airtime and data.

Leon de Fleuriot, ETL chief executive, said: “Matsebetsebe Cash Explosion promotion has financially enriched and empowered many customers.

“It has opened doors of fortune to new and existing lucky customers. Loads of cash and other prizes including airtime and data were won during the promotion which means customers were able to talk and chat with friends, family and business associates,” Mr De Fleuriot said.

He added the promotion was done “as a unique way of showing appreciation to all ETL customers”.

Marketing Manager ‘Maphunye Putsoa congratulated all the winners and promised more exciting promotions this year.

“The three customers who each won M150 000 had the opportunity to drive away with Toyota Etios vehicles but chose money which they can use however they want,” Ms Putsoa said.

“Those who did not win should not lose hope because we are working on an even bigger promotion.”

Previous winners of the M150 000 are ‘Maputsoa Rapeane of Sekamaneng and Moleboheng Mats’ela who stays in the Cathedral area. – Own Correspondent
