MASERU — Three local beauties have been invited to compete in South Africa’s most glamorous beauty pageant to be held at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg today. This will be the 14th edition of the most sought-after South African national pageant revolving around style and glamour. As its title suggests, Miss Million Dollar seeks that girl that shines like a million dollar and is glitzy and glamorous with a personality that glitters more than a diamond.

The prizes tell it all, they go as high as R700 000 or more with an all-expenses-paid-for trip to Italy.  It has been won by the likes of Pretoria-born Ti-Amore Fourie who has won over 15 beauty pageants and represented South Africa four times internationally, making her the Modeling Grand Champion of the world. This year Lesotho has been given the privilege of being among the entrants.

It will be represented by Karabelo Mokoallo who has won the Miss Universe Sash and Tiara, former Miss Vodacom PC FM Refiloe Pheku and Miss Lesotho Companies Gladys Pelesi. “We may be first-time entrants, but we are definitely bringing the trophy home. I am very confident in the ladies who will be representing us,” said the organiser of local pageants Tlali Bernard Tlali in an interview with Xpress People on Wednesday.

“Karabelo for one has competed and won international contests, her presence will motivate other girls who will be travelling with her. It will be her way of passing on the talent. “We will be sending a whole new different set of girls each year, giving them exposure. “Although sponsorship remains a problem, it does not dissuade us. We are passionate about what we are doing and we will continue to put Lesotho on the map,” stressed Tlali.
