BUDDING master of ceremonies (MC) Mavele and 2015 Vodacom Superstars winner DJ Vesta have been lined up to feature in a South African music tour starting on 2 July 2016 in Ficksburg.
Dubbed “Mochini’s Annual Celebration Tour” the shows will also see DJ Lovers, Da Saw, Alah Yen, Leewizer, Adrea The BeatboxerSurprise the DJ DJ N.I.C Sir Cue and DJ Virus among others perform in various Free State province towns.
The organiser of the tour, Michael Mochini, told Xpress People this past week that he was impressed by the duo’s performances at the annual all-night music extravaganza Vodacom Summa Feva last December.
“I came to Lesotho with (Lesedi FM presenter cum promoter) Ba2cada to attend the Vodacom Summa Feva last year. To my knowledge, Ba2cada was the best MC at any event. That was before I saw Mavele who was co-hosting the biggest musical show in Lesotho with Ba2cada,” he said.
“When I realised that he had the energy and charisma to drive the crowd into a frenzy, I resolved in my mind to bring him to my events and then asked around about him.
“I approached Mavele on the sidelines of the event and told him I wanted us to work together then exchanged contacts to keep in touch.”
In the case of DJ Vesta, Mochini said he was also enthralled by his skills on the Vodacom Summa Feva deck prompting the invitation.
“Vesta also stole my heart with his mixing skills and I have been following him since the festival. He plays like (South African) DJ Shimza.
“I invited the duo to a show in April this year to test their acumen in South Africa and they blew the masses away. I told them that it was high time they came out of their comfort zones since Africa is there to be conquered.”
Mochini also he has worked with other Lesotho artists at Tšepe Movement events in Bloemfontein.
“I have worked with Lesotho artists before, but Mavele and Vesta are on another level as they appeal to our target market and we are going places with them. They add value to our shows.
“They will not only be part of the opening show, but the whole tour until the final massive bash which will be held in September in Clocolan, and that will not be the end of our working relations.”
He added that the tour would be held throughout the Free State province in towns such as Marquad, Thaba Nchu, Ladybrand and Ficksburg among others.
Contacted for comment, Mavele said the tour was a stepping stone to realising his dream of foraying beyond Lesotho.
“I aspire to make myself a sought-after brand around Africa and beyond, so this platform Mochini has afforded us will help us get the exposure we need,” he said.
“We will be touring around Free State, which means that we will be known throughout the province and maybe someone from afar will also spot us like he did in Lesotho.
“I did not think there were any talent scouts from South Africa at the Summa Feva, all I did was my best like I always do. I was elated when Mochini approached me with the offer of hosting his shows in Free State.”
