THE Lesotho National Broadcasting Service (LNBS) Director General, Lebohang Moqasa says the national broadcaster is ready to migrate to digital terrestrial from the analogue service.
Mr Lebohang Moqasa disclosed this in a recent interview with LENA where he said all but one of the 20 recently constructed transmitter towers were ready for operation using the Unintegrated Power Supply (UPS) to ensure efficiency.
He said the transmitter at Mokhele in Mohale’s Hoek would soon be working after the rectification of an electrical issue.
He said in addition, they had acquired 3000 set top boxes which would be distributed through post offices for resale to the public in all districts once they had decided on a retail price.
Mr Moqasa said in total, they were looking to secure at least 100 000 set top boxes by the end of February so that the country would migrate to the digital platform in tandem with South Africa as per the agreement signed by the two countries in February 2016.
The two countries failed to meet their June 2015 deadline to migrate to the digital platform. -LENA
