Leribe-based outfit slap captain Mabuti Potloane and defender Kopano Motaung with suspension letters
Linare on Friday suspended influential captain Mabuti Potloane and defence stalwart Kopano Motaung for indiscipline.
According to club spokesperson Teboho Ntoane, the players were slapped with suspension letters on Friday, which rules them out of today’s blood-and-thunder Premier League clash against Bantu in Mafeteng.
“The two players face disciplinary action; they were given their suspension letters yesterday. They will remain on the sidelines pending a disciplinary hearing that will be conducted on a date yet to be decided by the management,” Ntoane told the Sunday Express yesterday.
According to Ntoane, the management decided to take disciplinary action against their star-players to ensure order at the Leribe-based club.
“This action had to be taken because we were afraid that if left unpunished, the other players would believe indiscipline was tolerated at Linare; it would pass on to other players and end up being like a cancer in the team.”
Ntoane said he could not tell whether the absence of the duo would negatively affect the team’s performance in what promises to be thrilling match against defending league champions Bantu.
“Linare registered about 28 players for the season, which means we still have many options to choose from in coming up with a team for the match against Bantu tomorrow. I cannot really say whether their absence will have a negative effect on the team’s performance but I guess we will have to wait and see,” Ntoane said.
The Sunday Express tried to get comments from Potloane and Motaung yesterday but to no avail.
