Linare beat Likhopo

Sports Reporter

MASERU — Linare moved to fifth place in the Vodacom Premier League after a 2-0 win over Likhopo at the Ratjomose grounds on Saturday.

The win, coupled with results from elsewhere, means the Leribe giants will end the year on a high note with their sights fixed on a place in the top four.

Although it is still too early to make predictions it will not be overly optimistic to say they are title contenders.

Their win wasn’t without a fight though as beleaguered Likhopo battled gamely and fought for every scrap.

In fact Likhopo will regard themselves unlucky for missing a glut of guilt-edged chances, including one that came off the crossbar in the first 30 minutes of the match.

But a goal by Tse Tala striker Leboneng Moqecho just before the breather gave Linare the break they were looking for.

Tatolo Mphuthing then calmly slotted a penalty through the second half to clinch all three points for Linare midway.

Linare now have 11 points from eight games.

The other big movers on the day were LDF who claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Majantja in Mohale’s Hoek. Sohle-Sohle are second on the log with 15 from seven games.

Defending champions LCS will remain top of the pile with 17 points after a 2-2 draw with Maduma in Khukhune, while Joy, now third, and Mpharane Celtics, sixth, played to a 1-1 draw in Hlotse.

Saturday, December 17

Maduma 2-2 LCS, Mpharane Celtics 1-1 Joy, Majantja 0-1 LDF, Likhopo 0-2 Linare
