Lesotho face Zim, Botswana in Cosafa Under-20 tourney

MASERU — Lesotho will face Zimbabwe and Botswana in the Metropolitan Cosafa Under-20 Championship, set for South Africa next month.
According to the draw conducted in Johannesburg Friday night, Makoanyane X1 get the chance to avenge the senior team’s agonising ouster from the Cosafa Challenge by Zimbabwe last month, after being pooled alongside the Young Warriors and Young Zebras, in Group C of the regional competition, scheduled for December 6-15 in Johannesburg.
The 13 Southern African Development Community nations — save for Malawi, who decided not to participate, citing financial constraints — were divided into four pools, with group winners advancing to the semis.
Metropolitan Group executive manager, Christabell Kota, said the tournament has become an important fixture for the region.
“As Metropolitan, we are proud to be sponsors of a tournament that is grooming the future stars of not only South Africa or southern Africa but Africa and the world,” Kota said. “This is just one way of us giving back to the community through football, as one of the most-supported sports in the world,” he said in a statement
