MICRO financial institution, LenderU Lesotho, a subsidiary of Dubai-based AUDHILD, has marked its first anniversary, celebrating a year of growth, financial inclusion and community impact in the country’s microfinance sector.
Speaking at the anniversary event in Maseru on Friday, Chief Executive Officer Matikoe Letsie expressed gratitude to Basotho for their support and reflected on the company’s achievements over the past 12 months.
“Our baby is now a year old,” Ms Letsie said.
“In just one year, we’ve expanded our footprint nationwide, created jobs for over 30 Basotho, and provided fast, accessible financial services to thousands.”
LenderU Group CEO, Janis Kirsis, explained that the name LenderU— meaning ‘Lender for You’—captures the company’s mission of empowering clients to manage their financial journeys on their own terms.
“Our goal is financial inclusion for all. We are committed to delivering the best and fastest service to every eligible Mosotho,” Mr Kirsis said.
Since its launch, LenderU has grown to eight branches and is currently constructing a central office and customer call centre, which Mr Kirsis said will be vital in enhancing nationwide service delivery.
“We invest in our staff so they can take excellent care of our clients. Our team is the backbone of our growth,” he added.
Mr Kirsis said Lesotho was the company’s first market due to its welcoming culture, and reaffirmed LenderU’s commitment to supporting the country’s economic empowerment through inclusive finance.
To celebrate the milestone, LenderU ran a customer reward campaign, selecting five newly registered clients to win cash prizes worth M5000. Four winners received M1000 each, while the grand prize winner walked away with M2000.
“I’m so happy. This money will help me buy Christmas clothes for my kids and grow my motoho business,” said Learongoa Mafuahae, one of LenderU clients.
LenderU plans to further expand access its offices to other districts to make services available across the country.
