MASERU — Likuena coach, Lesley Notši, has congratulated his top marksman Tšepo Lekhooana after his club, Maluti FET College, won promotion to the South African First Division.
Lekhooana was one of the top performers for Likuena in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers after he was voted man-of-the-match in the 0-2 loss to Ghana last month.
“I’m very happy for him being as he is an important player in our national team set-up,” Notši said.
“It is very good for us and him as a player that he will be playing in a competitive league like the South African First Division.”
Notsi said the league will improve Lekhooana a lot as he had already seemed a stage ahead of his Likuena teammates.
“He will be playing in a competitive league and will grow as a player because of the level of competition in that league,” said Notši.
The lanky striker missed the recent regional Cosafa Cup due to the promotional play-offs and the Likuena mentor told the Sunday Express that they missed the services of the goal poacher.
“We were playing against teams that can be very physical in the regional tournament and we missed him a lot because he was going to give us aerial strength in the tournament,” he said.
Notši said it is also exciting that more of his players continue to be linked with clubs outside the country.
This paper has been told that scouts of DR Congo’s side TP Mazembe want to take a close look at Ralekoti Mokhahlane and Thapelo Tale.
Both players had a good tournament in Zambia where Tale was the second highest goal scorer.
Mokhahlane on the other hand was voted man-of-the-match in the two group stage matches against Kenya and Botswana.
“I have heard about our players being linked with moves to clubs outside the country and I hope it really materialises,” said
He said it will help improve their team as more players will be tested in competitive and big leagues across the continent.
