THE Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has announced the dates for clubs and players’ registration also known as the summer transfer period. Local clubs will have to do all their business between Tuesday and 30 September.

This information is contained in a circular released by LeFA on Thursday.

Normally, the winter transfer period runs from June to August annually when soccer leagues would be on a break. However, this year the plans were disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic which disrupted footballing season.

The football season ended in July instead of the usual May date.

“…The return to football will be as follows: Club registration processes will run from 1 to 30 September 2020,” reads part of the circular.

“All clubs should register by way of club licensing and processing their affiliation and competition registration with their respective District Football Association and or Leagues.”

The circular also said LeFA was present its plan to the National Covid-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) regarding the return of football.

“With regards to the application for permission to restart football… LeFA will present its case to the NACOSEC and the government regarding the return to football and competition. You will all be informed about the developments regarding LeFA’s request…”

LeFA said players were still prohibited from training as groups but could now train individually.

“It should be clear that this circular does not call for players to train as groups but rather should train individually. Clubs are reminded that any form of misconduct regarding their players training in groups shall result in the club facing disciplinary action for contravening a legitimate directive particularly under the current state of emergency,” LeFA said.
