MASERU — Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) will next week take part in the Annual Netball Tournament in Pretoria, South Africa.
The competition runs from December 16-18.
This is LCS’ first participation in the annual tournament which attracts teams from within and outside South Africa.
LCS president ‘Makhotso Mokoatle told the Sunday Express on Friday that they are hoping to bring gold from this tournament.
“We have been invited and we are hoping to lift Lesotho’s flag high by winning gold in this tournament,” Mokoatle said.
Mokoatle said they were invited by the organisers because of their current performance both locally and internationally.
“We were invited because of our good working relationships with the South African teams and tournament organisers,” she said.
“We are also hoping that by attending this tournament, we will attract more international teams to come and compete in our Metropolitan LCS Inter-club tournament in March next year.”
LCS are the reigning champions of the Lesotho Netball League both in the female and male categories.
In October, LCS won silver and bronze medals in the female and male categories respectively in the Durban Central Netball Tournament.
Mokoatle said it was important to note that LCS use all the international exposure they get to constantly weigh their players’ abilities and performance.
“Our players get international exposure and gain experience whenever we compete in any South African tournament and we normally use these to weigh their abilities,” she said.
