LBA invites prospective candidates

THE Lesotho Basketball Association (LBA) has invited members who are interested in contesting the association’s general elections for next month’s Executive Progression Programme to capacitate them with the requisite skills.

LBA will hold executive committee elections next year and they have already started preparations to capacitate prospective candidates as the current committee is not eligible for re-election since they have served their two terms in office.

LBA public relations officer, Ratšolo Molupe, said they therefore intended to train the candidates to ensure a smooth transition when the time comes.

“President Molupe Mothepu; Treasurer, Nkhethuoa Makhorole; Secretary General, Palo Mohlotsane and I are not eligible for re-election because we have served our two terms,” Molupe said.

“Our constitution states that no one should serve more than two terms. So this programme is aimed at grooming people who intend to contest for the positions in the new committee.”

Molupe said the interested candidates will shadow the current committee as they executed their duties until the elections.

“We encourage everyone interested to come forward because this initiative is aimed at ensuring the continuity of leadership.

“We also want people to be sure of what they will be getting themselves into,” he said, adding the programme was not compulsory.
