O NKETSETSA Moferefere, meaning “you drive me crazy”, and the first single from local muso, Lala, will do just that for local music fans if the rave reviews it has received so far are anything to go by.
Hailing from Sekamaneng, Lala’s love affair with music began at an early age and he would later on find an outlet for his bourgeoning talent in the local church choir.
It was only at high school that Lala became convinced music was his calling and, like a duck to water, he has gone from strength to strength.
Lala has has made himself available to any artist needing a backing vocalist; from House producers to Jazz artists like Sir Schaba, Phakzino and Bhudaza.
It is only recently that the Sekamaneng-based vocalist thought of creating his own songs.
“I have worked with different people and even went on tours with the likes of Bhudaza as his backing vocalist,” Lala said in an interview with Xpress People this week.
“O Nketsetsa Moferefere introduces the world to who Lala is when riding solo. I want to show people that I am versatile and through this single they get a glimpse of the tip I am on.”
His brand of music is novelty, Lala said, because “there is no soulful music production here at home so the market is left unserved”.
“With this track I am testing the waters and get people ready for what is coming their way,” he said.
In the laid back song, Lala talks about a Mosotho lady who caught his attention, waxing lyrical about her features.
“The song is about the apple of my eye whose beauty is unmatched,” Lala said,” he said, chuckling.
“She is structured in a unique way and is stunning. The way she moves, smiles and talks drives me crazy.
As a parting shot, Lala said fans should be on the lookout for his next offering which will drop in November 5. It will include such tracks as Dream and remixes of the track O Nketsetsa moferefere.
