MASERU — Local DJ Thabo Kalabe, better known to his fans as RazChriz Ginitri, is not only blazing Lesotho’s night life but has had opportunities to display his skills on the international stage.
Born and raised in Lithabaneng, Maseru, Kalabe is a producer and disc spinner who was inspired by the United States’ Osunlade.
He started blending exotic deep House sounds in 2009 and has since then done nothing but charm his fans with soothing sounds.
Kalabe told XpressPeople that the music industry, like any other career path, has great challenges.
“I have worked hard to be where I am today, failing a couple of times. But as they say you just can’t keep a good man down. It is not about how you fall; it’s about how you pick yourself up,” he says.
“Another problem facing us musicians is that the local market likes freebies yet it costs us money to make music.”
Early 2012, Kalabe released his first EP The Rising Shadow under the stable Korner Gruve Records based in New York City in the United States.
This opened doors for our local DJ as he later on released another album called My Deep under a South African record label Afro Rebel.
Our multi-talented muso has just signed a lucrative deal with United Kingdom’s Black Vinyl Records under which he is going to release an album Leaves of Autumn which is the title track already getting air play on People’s Choice FM.
“Landing my first contract made me realise that everyone can turn a dream into reality with passion and hard-work. I never thought I would be rubbing shoulders with Deejays from overseas,” he says.
RazChriz Ginitri is a collection of songs called Maluti Deep Sessions which airs on his slot on United States’ radio stations Massive Movements Radio and World Radio Network.
This show also features household names such as Ralf Gum, Will Tension and Greg Anderson, to name a few.
