Guards suspected of robbery

MASERU — Police have arrested two security guards and another suspect in an armed robbery incident in which Orion Lodge in Mohale  lost M75 487 last Monday.

According to the police, the two suspects aged 24 and 27, who were security guards at the lodge hit the establishment in the early hours on Monday.

They were nabbed in the area the same day before they led the police to Ha Thetsane, the home of another suspect where the money was hidden.

Police spokesperson Inspector Thato Ramarikhoane said
M62 120 was recovered following the third arrest in Ha Thetsane.

“The three have since appeared in court in Maseru and are remanded in custody,” Ramarikhoane said.

Police preliminary investigations have revealed the two armed security guards who had plotted to rob the lodge tied-up one of the workers and sealed his mouth with masking tape.

“They then proceeded to the cash office and stole all the money they found,” Ramarikhoane said.
