Gin & Trout festival deferred to February 2026

THE Lesotho Gin & Trout Festival has been postponed from 6 December 2025 to 28 February 2026 due to the current rainy season.

Event organisers, Xperisense Spokesperson, Tšokolo Makeka, said that after consultations with meteorological services and suppliers, they were advised to move the festival because weather conditions could adversely affect the event.

“To ensure this as best as possible, we consult with relevant authorities such as meteorological services, as well as our valued suppliers,” Mr Makeka said.

“Given the intense rainy season we have been experiencing, we have been advised that there is a risk that the event may be adversely affected by the weather, we elected to postpone the event to February, where we anticipate a lower risk of weather disruption.”

He explained that experience is everything when it comes to Gin & Trout, as patrons are meant to enjoy a full sensory experience.

“The taste of trout and lamb dishes, washed down with delicious gin cocktails. The sight of beautiful people, beautiful scenery, and a festival of rich colours. The sound of melodic tunes and laughter in the sunshine. The touch of grass and a cold cup in the hand, with the scent that gets the mouth and the mind watering. These are the scenes we promise our patrons, and these are the scenes we will deliver upon.”

He indicated that they have also learnt that although December is a festive time, patrons and consumers are often stretched by the vast number of events available, coupled with Christmas and family obligations. For this reason, a niche experience like Gin & Trout is better isolated and positioned as a refreshing way to kick off the new year after a long January and early-year commitments.

“We are confident that February will work perfectly for those who desire a discerning kind of fun. It also increases participation from suppliers and partners from the SADC region as in February they will be done with their congested December festivities.”
