ECONET customers travelling to different selected destinations across the world including the Republic of South Africa can now receive incoming calls for free while roaming.
This was revealed by the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, Maurice Newa on Friday.
Mr Newa said that the introduction of free incoming calls on roaming will enable Econet customers to stay connected while roaming on the selected foreign networks. This means that customers will answer their incoming calls for free.
“We are saying to our customers travelling to different countries across the world, you don’t have to change the SIM card, you don’t have to ignore those calls……take those calls because they are free,” he said.
By allowing customers to receive calls for free, Econet absorbs the extra charges on behalf of the customers.
In order to qualify for the free incoming calls, Econet customers have to load airtime worth at least M100 and get 30 minutes worth of free incoming calls valid for 30 days.
To activate roaming, Econet customers should dial *100# and choose roaming on the menu before they can embark on the journeys.
