KHUBETSOANA-BORN rapper Tebello “Feb Mosotho” Kooko will on Saturday launch his third album, a 12-track offering titled Reborn at Roma’s Kaycee’s Club.
Feb Mosotho will perform all songs from the mixtape at the function which will also feature fellow rappers Jiji F, Sthola, KVN, 3rd Code, Kot Inferno, Grandfonic and Kopano. Disc spinners AfroDJ, Mekonko, Trybz, MSL Relo and Butty will man the decks while comedian Lilaphalapha will be host for the evening.
Some of the stand-out tracks are Hao le Sio, Moji, Sphethephethe and Promise I’ll Be Back which is dedicated to his single mother he left behind to pursue greener pastures in Roma.
He began his career in 2009 under the stage name Febric. His 2010 debut album Ke Tsamaile was released under the label and featured the club banger Bumber. In 2011, Feb Mosotho left for Bling Entertainment in Klerksdorp, South Africa and subsequently released his second album Clepa% Mosotho in 2013.
This week, he told Xpress People that he was now a different, more mature musician the new stage name.
“Febric made tracks meant for parties rather than the strength of the message and these would quickly fade away from the scene,” Feb Mosotho said.
“This offering introduces Feb Mosotho, hence the title Reborn. The sound that Feb Mosotho offers is different as he is more focused on making music that will last forever rather.
“It is no longer about money or popularity but creating a musical legacy. It is about changing perceptions that local music is inferior and proving that we are also gifted,” he said.
Feb Mosotho also revealed that he would have released the offering a long time ago were it not for financial challenges.
“I should have done this album a long time ago but then I could not afford beats or studio time. I am grateful to producer Fredi Fonz for his support from the time I started working on the mix-tape last November last year until the completion.”
Feb Mosotho also worked with artists such as T Mech, Sthola, Vector, Corinah, 3rd Code and Jiji F on the album. He said the album will be on sale at the launch venue Kaycee’s Club on Saturday with updates being announced on his social media pages.
