BANTU defender Itumeleng Faleni was the biggest winner after he walked away with M1500 at the inaugural Premier League Explosion (PLEX) awards at AME Hall in Maseru yesterday.

Faleni scooped the main prize of the Ladies’ Man of the Moment (M1000) accolade ahead of the Matlama defender, Michael Mireku and Kopano Tseka of Lioli.

He also won the Fans’ Favourite Award (M500) in absentia as he is currently with his side in Bethlehem, South Africa where they are preparing for the new season.

PLEX was hosted by the Ladies in the Man Dominated Game Association (LMDG) with the aim of improving the standards of local football.

The other big winner was Ntshabi Peleha who was voted the Women Super League’s Outstanding Player which also carried M1000 prize money. Mosili Motsoeneng won the Ladies’ Women of the Moment accolade (M500).

LMDG president, Metlo Motaung, said they were happy with the success of the event and expressed optimism that it would grow in future.

“I was initially nervous but now I am happy and satisfied with most of the things we achieved,” Motaung said, adding they were disappointed by the low turnout by invited guests.

She however, said they played their part and it was all up to the guests.

“This was our first event and it was a learning curve for us and we hope for a bigger event next year and hopefully we will be able to do most of the things which failed to materialise due to lack of funding.

“We are also appealing to the corporate world to lend a helping hand,” Motaung said.

Motebang Sera (Matlama), Basia Makepe (LMPS), Mojela Letsie (LDF), Tsietsi Motseare (Sky Battalion), Lehlohonolo Lenka (LCS), Thabiso Brown (Kick4Life) and Tumelo Khutlang (Lioli) also won in the Fans’ Favourite category after being nominated in their respective teams that finished in the top eight last season.
