ECOSURE – Mpolokeng, Econet’s insurance policy underwritten by the Lesotho National Insurance Group (LNIG) is still continuing to financially comfort the bereaved families of the insured customers.
EcoSure’s Product Manager, ‘Mabasia Khongoanyana revealed this in an interview. She reiterated that more than M1million has already been spent on EcoSure payouts.
Khongoanyana explained that there is a waiting period of six months where the cause of death is natural, however, in accidental deaths, there is no waiting period as long as the first premium has been paid. All the customer has to do when the insured person has passed on is to deliver the required documents to the nearest Econet shop nationwide.
The documents include the insured and the beneficiary’s identity documents, death certificate, mortuary letter, a document stating the cause of death and a police report depending on the cause of death.
One of the beneficiaries from Quthing who has recently lost an uncle to death, a 26 year old Rebonemang Marobela, said that he is happy to have made such a brilliant decision and encouraged his uncle to join EcoSure. “Registration was hassle free and there was no paperwork needed” said Marobela
“We saved on transport costs and travelling time because premiums were deducted from my uncle’s airtime and all I did was to help him load airtime” said Marobela
“As a growing man’ said Marobela, I have always thought that claims from the insurances take time so, you can imagine how surprised I was when I received a payment within three days on EcoSure”. “It’s absolute convenience”
Econet’s EcoSure insurance policy covers one member, aged between 18 and 65, per SIMcard and the customer is at liberty to choose anyone as their beneficiary. Monthly premiums are deducted from the customers’ airtime account.
“All the customer needs is to load airtime every month and relax as we conveniently save them travel time by deducting their premium amount” said Khongoanyana
To register for EcoSure insurance cover, Econet customers simply dial *100#, and select option 3, Ecoservices, from the main menu then follow the guidance to choose covers that suit their needs and pockets from as little as M9.
