‘MAPUTSOA Rapeane on Friday became the biggest winner of Econet Telecommunication Lesotho (ETL)’s Matsebetsebe Cash Explosion competition Matsebetsebe Cash after walking away with M150 000 during a draw held in Butha-Buthe.

The mother of three from Sekamaneng, Berea is the first monthly car winner of the competition, which also has daily prizes worth M10 000 and weekly prizes worth M20 000 as well as a host of other prizes. The car prize has an option of being exchanged for M150 000 cash.

Launched in June this year and running until September, the competition is meant to reward and empower ETL subscribers.

“I am over the moon! I am so happy that I don’t have enough words to describe my gratitude to Econet for availing this opportunity to me. I really have no words to thank them,” Ms Rapeane told the Sunday Express after winning the prize.

Ms Rapeane said she opted for a cash prize instead of a Toyota Etios because she intended to use the money to build a home for her family.

“I chose to receive a cash because I would like to build a house for my three children, which we do not have at the moment,” she explained.

Asked how often she participated in the competition, Ms Rapeane said she was a regular player in the trivia-based competition after getting hooked because of its interesting questions.

The second prize winner, ‘Mamokoena Makekema from Ha Thetsane, walked away with M40 000.

Econet’s Marketing Manager ‘Mamphunye Putsoa said the competition had already seen 26 subscribers winning prizes to date.

She said the monthly car giveaway draw which was held in Butha-Buthe on Friday, was the first of the planned three to take place in the course of the competition.

Ms Putsoa said their car give-away draws were deliberately placed in different locations around the country since that was where their subscribers were found.

“We hold one draw in the northern region, another in the central region and another in the southern region of the country. This will take the competition closer to where our subscribers are located,” she said.

Ms Putsoa said subscribers could enter the competition through texting the word ‘Econet’ to 65100. She said the promotion was open to all ETL prepaid and contract subscribers.
