MASERU — The Education Council of Lesotho (ECOL) has introduced an online system to enable Form C and E candidates to register for their final exams this year.
Education ministry information officer, ‘Matšepo Mohau, said the new method is a more advanced, cost-effective and efficient way of collecting data for candidates who will be writing their examinations.
“The Ministry of Education and Training through the Examination Council of Lesotho (ECOL) has introduced an advanced registration method to ease and speed up the candidate’s registration process,” Mohau said.
“This is a more well-organised method to get the registration done. By introducing the new system the ministry is implementing the IT policy,” she added.
The new system started in Butha-Buthe on Monday and would soon be extended to other districts countrywide.
There would be an official from ECOL in each district to assist school principals with the new method.
The closing date for submission of registration forms is March 16.
Ten education offices had been connected to the network to make communication easier.
The new method is replacing the paper work system where the education offices would send forms to schools to fill in the names of candidates.
The schools would then send the forms back to offices.
